Above is the finished color image.  The image next to it is the unfinished ink cartoon.  I used a light-box, and a Japanese G-nib pen to trace over the finished pencil drawing.

Personally, I like how it came out.

Both the inked, and the penciled drawing are for sale to those who inquire.  I'll put pricing up after a week when I decide how much to sell them for.

Coloring was done using Painter 11, which is a program I recommend highly to anyone who likes a more 'painterly' effect.

I happen to love the old Popeye cartoons, both in print, and animated.  I've always wondered what everyone's favorite, spinach addicted sailor would look like if drawn in a more realistic way, so I decided to to a quick sketch as a lark.  It turned out better than expected, so I'm going to finish it this weekend.

Let me know what you think of how I'm doing so far.  Take a look at the doodle I did while talking on the phone, and the unfinished pencil drawing. He definitely came off as someone you would not like to mess with.  I mean, look at that chin!  He looks like he could hammer rail-road spikes with it!

I'd love some feedback.

The finished image will be up for sale when it's done.  Just thought you'd like to know.

I've noticed something.  When I dedicate my time to just drawing in black and white, the images come out better.  Maybe I'll limit the amount of time I devote to coloring.

Feedback on this would be appreciated.  Please email me and give me your opinions.

This image is an old one that I've dug out of my files and posted. Personally, I like the linework on Fuffy McGuffin.  It tends to get lost in the coloring process.

Just more proof that, while we might love them, cats can be real jerks.

Just so you know, I like Thom Yorke and Radiohead's music too... but when you try to make a religion out of them, that's just going way too far.

Remember Hipsters, the people who are the most cool, are just being themselves.  When you desperately try to act cool, it's just that... an act.

It's not the real thing, and believe me, it's noticable.

Wow.  It's been nearly a month.  Sorry for the hiatus.  I've got a backlog of cartoons to be colored and posted, and will get around to it as soon as possible.

In the meanwhile, I'm sure you've been noticing that the images I've been posting have been higher resolution than usual.  You can save some of them as desktop backgrounds.

Hope you enjoy.

Everything I stated in this cartoon is true.  Including the censorship of applications... and more.

It might be worth your while to read up on one of Apple's business partners

Even so.... I will admit that Apple does make some very fancy electronic baubles.

Enjoy.

Kind of makes you think, doesn't it?

I would like to point out that my hoster is making life very difficult for me.  I have no idea why, but they keep messing up this site.

I've got a backlog of sketches, strips and other work to post.

I'll be trying to make amends for my time away from this site.  I hope you enjoy the new work.  Comments are welcome and appreciated.

Some Sketches:

I'll be posting more over the next few days.
The sketch above was done wholly in Corel Painter 11.

This was the first time I've done an image using only software.  I like how it turned out, but I will admit that it felt like cheating.  Also, I like having a physical copy of my creations.  Still, it's not bad.

I'm still going to do most of my ink work by pen and paper.  I just like doing it that way.
